Hello readers. Gaming has only gotten better and better. Now not without a few hiccups but better yes. As we move into 2016 and eventually into 2017 there will be a lot of games coming out that will literally amaze you.  One type of gaming coming out on the horizon are virtual reality games. Sony will be spearheading the movement with their new PlayStation VR, which is a virtual reality headset set to release in October 2016 for $399… Now how cool this sounds to me until the price comes into play. It’s like buying another PlayStation 4. So if you do not have a PS4 now and you want to play in VR then be prepared to kick out at least $800 to get you started. I know there is a bundle that will come with a game for $499.99. (If you clicked the link you will have seen that already.)

Three flavors of PS4 for ya.

So… what about Microsoft the the Xbox???  Well nothing definite was mentioned but Microsoft has announced a new more powerful XBox One referred to as Project Scorpio. Check out the IGN video:

Okay enough of that stuff, with all the new hardware coming out boasting more powerful GPUs (Sony also has mentioned a better PS4) what games are we going to be to play on these all of this??? Let’s see shall we???

I want to start with the game that has my attention. I am talking about Resident Evil. If you are a fan of Resident Evil you know that the franchise has moved from the horror we all loved about the game to more of a RPG fighting type of game with some puzzles in the mix. Well Resident Evil 7 is on the move. The game now will not be out until about Jan of 2017 but you can get a glimpse at what this game will be like now. There is a demo that some people can play and a trailer.

You like using Chrome cause Internet explorer just sucked to you right and while you are filling in a form to register your info to that cool social media website and you make a mistake. You hit the backspace key and for some reason the browser goes back to a previous page. You are a little surprised and confused and you find out eventually all of that typing you did is now lost and you have to fill the form out again. You are now frustrated.Well you are not alone cause this happened to alot of people and soon your frustrations will be alleviated. Google Chrome is fixing the issue. In Chrome’s next big release it is removing the shortcut that has the “backspace” key returning you to the previous page.  To be more specific, as in the example I mentioned latter while filling out a form if you were not focused in the text box that you were typing in, Chrome interpreted the backspace key as a “back” button which would cause you to lose all of the data you had just entered.

Engineers from Google say that years of user complaints have finally pushed them to get rid of the shortcut. Well some more hardcore users have complained about it but Google said that the numbers and the ease of the change prove it worth the move.

Google product manager, Tyler Odean writes, “We’re definitely aware of the frustration that this causes users who have come to rely on the shortcut…… However for users who *don’t* understand the behavior of the shortcut, which is the majority of users, the loss of data is also super frustrating and they are less equipped to understand or prevent their frustrations.”

BUT……. People who still want the shortcut to stay can either use alternates (alt+left arrow on Windows, command+left arrow on Mac) or install a Chrome extension that brings it back again.  So you have until late July to decide when the fix will officially roll out.

AT&T currently has plans that can be a bit confusing. The question now is whether you want to trade in at 12, 18, or 24 months. How about putting a downpayment and paying monthly for 28 months? Well AT&T knows they mess they made and as of June 9th they will be streamlining their plans to just two choices. One plan, Next Every Year, is for the hardcore upgraders where you can get a new phone every 12 months if you agree to a 2-year plan. The other plan, called Next, lets you upgrade every 2 years if you are willing and able to make payments over 30 months.You can lower the month to month impact by making a down payment or trading in your old phone but this only applies to customers paying on installments who don’t really want to spend extra.  You can do what I suggest and just buy a phone outright or pay it off if you want to upgrade on your own terms. I will add in an option I use which requires patience by waiting a little longer and allow that phone you like to gather some age and hit up sites like Ebay and buy your next upgrade this way.

The plan trimming sounds like a great idea for AT&T if you ask me as most of  the competitors already have simpler plans. Like T-Mobile where they divide you up between a normal 24 month plan or the 12 month Jump On Demand plan which hits you with 18 months of payments.  I always tell people to watch closely what you are being locked into when purchasing your phones and the AT&T Next plan has  30 months of payments which is an eternity in this day of technology where things change every 6 months.

Skip to final update.

Here we are and the Galaxy Note 5 has not been out that long really and there have already been talks of the Samsung Galaxy S7. I am going to opt to giving you some real info here. Call it opinion, whatever you want but I am gonna say it anyways. The cellphone industry is heading in a direction that I do not totally like. It started with Apple suing everyone for stealing their own already stolen (okay bought) ideas. Somewhere in all that Samsung was accused of just copying Apple. So now at this day we have the Galaxy S6 and the newest Note 5 and all I can think of is: Are the accusations true? Samsung’s Note 5 is a beautiful phone, do not get me wrong, and I do like it very much so; but, they removed the sdcard and placed a nonremovable battery. Mind you these features are what made an iphone really kind of suck. I can add sub par hardware to that too when talking about the iphone. I do not care what you say about Apple’s internal hardware because how well that hardware really performs we can never really know due to vast differences in the software that they run.So since the Galaxy S4 Samsung’s flagship sales have falllen. The S4 did very well, the S5 did about 60% of  that, the S6… well would have probably done better if it were not for Samsung screwing up manufacturing and making too much of one version of the phone. Now we have the Note 5 which did not do as well as it was expected to. Now the Note 5 did sell twice as well as its counterpart, the S6 Edge Plus. Note the last word there….. “Plus”. Here we go with the Apple terms being stolen. You think Apple will try to sue Samsung for using Plus in the name as  part of any argument?  So Samsung has some work to do as far as I am concerned (others do feel the same way) or they will lose more footing in the game to Apple. Apple already has low options to choose so losing to Apple just makes the smartphone world rather boring. The world would be like a utopia of sorts with everyone using the same phone and wearing the same clothes , most likely white, and talking the same way while anyone else would be considered outlaws (I know I am exxagerating a bit.).  So onto to the Samsung Galaxy S7. What do we have so far to look forward to? Keep in mind these are only rumors, some will be on point while others you can take as a grain of salt.

Samsung Exynos 8890

There are rumors around that say there will be a Samsung phone with a new CPU (processor) that will be faster and better. Pretty much the same claims as always but this processor already has a name, the Exynos 8890 chipset. I know I said CPU and then named a chipset but Samsung has pretty much coined it by the whole package you are getting. This processor is being made using the company’s 14nm FinFet processor and features custom 64-bit Exynos M1 CPU cores. The rumors also say that Samsung may be able to release the S7 ahead of its usual cycle.  Also as to who will be able to acquire this phone which will not be everyone. Supposedly half of the phones made will be made with this new chipset while the other half will feature, yeah you may have guess it, a Snapdragon 820 chipset. The Exynos chipset is said to possibly mean a faster and more stable experience. Given the said specs, it could make the S7 Samsung’s most integrated smartphone as of yet, minus google Android of course.

Camera

The talk on the camera has been all over the place really and no one really knows what’s up. At one time it was said that Samsung was talking to Sony about acquiring the camera module it used in the Xperia Z5. The Xperia Z5 has a a 23MP camera with Hybrid Autofocus which is said to be able to focus really fast. You will have to click on the link to see more about that if you want. Another rumor report said that there will be a 12MP rear camera but with a larger half inch sensor. The idea is that when coupled with the larger pixel size it  would allow better performance. Oh also some new Samsung application supports this rumor. Most recently though the rumors say that the camera will be a 20MP camera that can shoot in RAW format. Also having the Pro mode to the camera and more advanced options for video recording also. There have been no confirmation on this though so… wait for Feb 2016 when the S7 is expected to unveil.

Firmware

Next there are insider rumors that Samsung has started development of the firmware for the S7.  Since these rumor are stating a time that was a month earlier than normal it is being assumed this is a sign of an earlier release date. Report also say there will be again two versions of the S7 with one being flat while the other curved. So development on G930FXXU0AOK6 and G935FXXU0AOK6 has begun this month so may be the early release date is valid.

Aside from all of this and with the Galaxy S7 only a few months away rumor suggest Samsung is already producing some of the hardware for this phone. Korean news claims manufacturing had kicked off for the processor and it is assumed Samsung will continue with a metal design but rumor say it will be a tougher metal. I will believe it when I see it…

Updates:

Price

Yeah price is probably important right? Well lately we have seen an increase in pricing for all of the flagship phones out and that has only pushed consumers away from buying the coolest phones. As I have mentioned latter, Samsung has seen a decline in sales for their biggest phones especially having to compete with Apple and companies like Huawei and Xiaomi who offer phones at a lower price that do have some pretty cool specs. So I read that Pan Jiutang, an analyst from China, has stated that the S7 price will be about 10% less than the S6’s price. If this is the case we may see Samsung back on track in sales soon. If this is the case I assume Samsung will do well in India then due to the iPhone 6S Plus’s price being too expensive for most customers there.

What is this thing gonna look like?

Next question…..What is this thing gonna look like? I really do not know. I have seen alot of images…supposed images and videos from possibly correct to totally idiotic. So I will post this video for you to watch here as possiblly correct since I have seen these image floating around quite often. I will also post a few images that I have seen more recent than this video. Checkem out.

Final Update:

As for all of the rumors looks like they were on point minus a few small differences that you will never even notice just the Galaxy S7 is a gorgeous phone. The S7 line comes in the S7 and the S7 Edge which this time around Samsung made larger with a larger battery to distinguish more the 2 phones. I personally think this is cool cause now you can actually justify paying more the the S7 Edge. After reading all of the rumors in this post I will just add a video so you can just relax and watch. Who wants to read alot of the same stuff anyways right?

Windows 10 Inside Out
Written by the award-winning team that created the best-seller Windows 7 Inside Out, it digs deep to explain not just how new features work, but why they work that way. The authors are backed by world-class technical editors and inside sources at Microsoft to make sure their information is accurate and complete.

Windows 10 is better (in ways) yet all that white is just annoying. I find it a bit hard to find where to place the mouse so I can drag windows from screen to screen. (Yes I have 2 screens.) Well Windows 10 uses white title bars (That is what they are called.) by default.  This is a bit of  a change from Windows 8 which did let you choose any color you wanted. There is a way to get some color to your desktop title bars.  Okay this method only affect some apps, mainly the traditional apps but not the universal apps. The universal apps stick to the white but a color change for some apps can really make a different for some depending on what apps you use consecutively. The univeral apps though depend on the developer of the app to specify a color. You can make the universal apps use a dark (hidden) theme though. I will talk about that after.

Microsoft Store

Change Windows Theme Files

Since Microsoft chose to rather force the white title bars we have to make a few changes. See in the DWM.dll theme file, there is code  that compares the current theme file with the “aero.msstyles” file which is the default theme  file. If it matches windows ignores the color in the file and sets the color to white. A solution… Just change the default Windows theme file to not have the name “aero.msstyles”.

  1. Open File Explorer and navigate to C:\Windows\Resources\Themes. (The more windows changes the more it stays the same.)
  2. Select the “aero” folder and copy it  (CTRL+C to copy) then paste it (CTRL+V to paste) right after into the same folder so you end up with 2 folders called aero, the 2nd folder having “copy” in its name. During the process you will get a UAC prompt that you will click “Continue” for. After select “Do this for all current items” and click “skip” when you see the File Access Denied window.
  3. FolderDeny Once you do that you will have made a folder called “aero – copy”. Rename it to whatever you want, in this case I will say rename it to “mytheme”. Just make sure you remember what you named it because you will have use that name later.
  4. Go inside your new folder “mytheme” and you will see a file named “aero.msstyles”. Rename it to “mytheme.msstyles”. Oh and click Continue when you see the UAC prompt.
  5. MsStylesRename.jpgOpen the en-US folder and you will see a file called “aero.msstyles.mui”. You need to rename it to “mytheme.msstyles.mui”. Again when you see the UAC prompt just click Continue. (The en-US folder may have a different name if you are using a different language version of Windows so just use a little common sense and goto the the folder with your language name with its shortened 2-letters and a dash with country code. Which in this case is US. (en = English, US = United States)
  6. StyleMUIRename imageNow go back to the main Themes folder and there is a file named “aero.theme”. You will need to copy it to your desktop because Windows will fight you in altering this file so copy and paste it to your desktop. Once you have your copy of the file on your desktop just rename it to “mytheme.theme”.
  7. Right-click on the mytheme.theme file and select OPEN WITH, then select CHOOSE another app (click on MORE APPs) and open the file with Notepad. Scroll down in the file and locate the line under [VisualStyles]. It should be reading like this: Path=%ResourceDir%\Themes\Aero\aero.msstyles. Replace or change the Aero part to mytheme so it reads like this:
    Path=%ResourceDir%\Themes\Aero\mytheme.msstyles.
    Save the file and close notepad. It will basically look like this.[VisualStyles]
    Path=%ResourceDir%\Themes\Aero\Aero.msstyles
    ColorStyle=NormalColor
    Size=NormalSize
    AutoColorization=0
    ColorizationColor=0XC40078D7
  8. Now select the mytheme.theme file you edited on your desktop and cut (cut and paste) it by pressing CTRL+X then go back to the C:\Windows\Resources\Themes folder then paste it by pressing CTRL+V. Agree to the UAC prompt when you are done.  These steps have helped you create a theme that can use colored window title bars.
  9. Now you have to activate the theme and you can do that by just simply double-clicking on it. Your title bars once finish applying should be colored now.

Personalization.jpg
From the images I am sure you see I have already done this so you have your proof that it does work. Windows 8 had like a default that auto chose a color based on the colors in your curerently selected wallpaper.   You can pick colors too if you want.  You just have to right-click on the desktop and select Personalize (the long way is to open your Start Menu and select Settings and find Personalization from there.) Once you are there just select the Colors option/category and disable the “Automatically pick an accent color from my background” toggle and a list of colors will show up. (Notice this window is still white.)

Personalization2.jpg
The list is  limited but if you are not satisfied with the choices you can still access the old school control panel applet by first pressing Windows Key+R to open up the Run dialog box then copy-&-paste the following command line into the run box and run the command by clicking OK. There will be a Show or Hide color mixer toggle arrow and using that you can get any color your want. If you do not see it you may have windows set to choose colors based on the wallpaper but you will still see colors in this window so just choose a color and it should show up.

This trick was tested using the latest version of Windows 10 (not a test build) from the date of this article.  Given what I have been seeing I would not be surprised if Microsoft adds more theming options later on as they seem to be listening a bit more to their users.  Alot of us techy people have been testing out development versions even after windows 10’s release and they have an improved feedback tool to help you voice your issues.

Microsoft

Floating on the web I find an article on the Journal of Neuroengineering and Rehabilitation website (Not sure how I got there. So don’t ask.) whose headline catches my attention, The feasibility of a brain-computer interface functional electrical stimulation system for the restoration of overground walking after paraplegia. So I think the article is basically saying how feasible would it be to make a paralyzed man walk using a computer. As I read on I find that has become very feasible.

Well the University of California has been researching this question and has made it possible. How was it done? The scientists used a computer to link 28-year-old Adam Fritz’s brain to his legs over, get this, a Bluetooth connection. The idea here is bypass the severed region of his spinal cord to in effect complete the missing connection by using an EEG to pick up the signals from his brain which were sent by a B.C.I. (brain control interface) computer to electrodes on his knee(s). I found a youtube video of it and the guy was supported and did walk about maybe 13 feet. Even so this is like a very cool thing. What comes to mind is stuff I have seen in movies, you know, and how movie theory is literally coming true. From what I read paralyzed patients have only been able to walk through the use of some sort of bionic suit. (The Million Dollar Man)

The article mentions alot of training involved and if I read it right (which took awhile to make sense of…lol) the participant had to go through hours of training before and after final testing. So Fritz basically had to go through alot of physical rehab to strengthen his muscles and learn how to use the BCI device. The article talks about a “decoded model” which translates to me as some sort of virtual figure of maybe a person, an avatar of sorts. (Cool he was playing a game with his head.) Here check out the video:

[ntcyoutube id=”TXSKSSmHbnQ”]

I would again say this is getting more and more feasible because today I found another article that says that Case Western Reserve University has attempted the same thing and have been able to allow a patient the use of his arms using the same idea. You can read more on this if you click here. Yeah I was geeking out today.

Okay now for you all you sneaker freaks who are losing closet space because of all the pairs of sneakers you just have to have.  Technology of today now can help you stack up on pairs even more now.  You can have your next new pair of ‘kicks’ 3D printed.  How about that Kanye West? In case you missed the memo, Kanye West seems to think that 3D printers will destroy the fashion industry.  Sneaker companies are now embracing the concept and are making their own 3D printed sneakers. Let’s start with Adidas shall we?

The idea from Adidas is something we all know and run into eventually in our lives.  You ever want the best and most expensive sneakers and yet when you buy them…  Your feet hurt in time and you begin to think why you bought them in the first place.  Yet those things look good on your feet so you tell yourself you are okay with them. Well no foot made is created equal.  Funny thing is even your own feet are not identical to each other.  Adidas has announced today the Futurecraft 3D, its first 3D printed shoe.

The Futurecraft 3D looks to me like a running shoe but the shoe has a midsole which can be customized to anyone’s foot “matching exact contours and pressure points,” as Adidas is saying.  Adidas is involved with Materialise who is a leading 3D printing software provider.  I looked into Materialise and they did some work with some fashion designer named Melinda Looi back in 2013.  I don’t really know how that is but apparently that  is a big thing.

Now this trend has been in the heads of companies for some time now.  Nike was the frontrunner by being the first to release a shoe with 3D-printed compoents.  The Vapor Laser Talon had a 3D printed plate.  If you don’t believe me just ask Olympic sprinter Michael Johnson.  After that Nike released the Vapor Carbon Elite.  You know I’m not one to throw a lot of letters at you so just scroll down to watch the videos.

So it is coming people… The day where you will be able to buy your ‘kicks’ and have the midsole talored to your unequally sized feet. This can be huge though really especially for anyone with foot problems.  If you have flat feet you will possibly be able to buy that casual shoe, like the Nike Cortez or the Air Force Ones and just simply have the midsole made for your feet and you will be good to go.  Now so far Adidas is talking this game and Nike started it but as we all know, others will follow suit to compete.

In 2014 Apple agreed to purchase Beats known for the popular Beats headphones, speakers, and audio software for $3 billion. The deal actually consists of a purchase price of about $2.6 and the rest will vest over time. Source So now here we are with not very long to wait to give Apple Music a try. The streaming service will cost $10/month and will be available on Macs, iOS, and Windows PCs on June 30th….even if you do not use Apple. Apple Music will also be available on both Apple TV and Android this fall. So what happened to all the issues Apple and Google have/had/have? Apple will put out an app with their branding on Google? It is no big deal because when it comes to money by-gones can be by-gones really quick. So in this case if Apple wants to compete with other services like Spotify they need to jump on the bandwagon. Whatever right? For more details you can click here.
