Since Pokemon Go has launched, the game has generated its share of headlines. Pokemon, a series of video games developed by Game Freak and Creatures Inc and published by Nintendo based on a cartoon series. The cartoon series features 10 year old Ash who aspires to be the greatest Pokemon trainer in the world. In his effort he enlists the help of two friends, Misty and Brock, and his own Pokemon, Pikachu who also becomes more his friend. Together they search their world for all Pokemon while avoiding Team Rocket and their Pokemon, Meowth.I myself have recently been pulled into the game and found myself walking around looking for Pokemon. Some being rather unreachable due to having to trek into other people’s backyards that may or may not have dogs while Pokemon gyms are located near bus stops and state buildings. I will probably head out after this on my own quest to “Catch em all.”

Now some headlines have been true like 4 teens using the game to rob Pokemon Go players. Another story is about a lady who found a dead body while playing the game. CNN has mentioned these incidents while also mentioned that people’s private homes are being turned into Pokemon gyms. You gotta read the CNN article as it mentions some more interesting things revolving around the game.

On the opposite side of things there is a lot of fake news out there involving Pokemon Go. Let me just get straight into it.

Pokemon Go Teen Kills Brother

    1. Pokemon GO, a mobile game that has captured the attention of millions of fans worldwide, is yet again the cause of a tragedy. Timmy Richards, A 15 year old Florida teen, was arrested Sunday morning after stabbing his 13 year-old brother to death because, according to authorities, he thought his younger brother had deleted his Pokemon, when in reality, he had simply logged him out.Since the release of Pokemon GO earlier this week, it has been a hit, attracting millions of players from all age ranges. Encouraging players to travel on foot to find and capture the various Pokemon available. “Tragic, tragic, tragic” said Officer Gary Philips, who arrived at the scene a few minutes after the murder, “It’s sad to see a game capture it’s players so much that they are willing to kill others. Especially in this case, as it was all just a misunderstanding”. According to his family, Timmy was a very smart and peaceful person, rarely seen angry or agitated.

pokemonGo ISIS

    1. Some users are having problems logging into or playing Pokemon Go the infamous terrorist group know as ISIS is taking responsibility for this attack.ISIS leader Ahmad Aklahar HanhJob says “America will feel the pain of not being able to catch them all” he claims the terrorist group has stopped purchasing illegal firearms and is now moving the war online. He claims they own several computer with over 500gb of ram something that could cause mass destruction.Using a simple dial up connection they have managed to shut down Pokemon Go’s servers.Stay woke and keep updated by checking back as this story develops.

pokemonGo hit by car

    1. Charley Lewis claims he was walking home when he felt a vibration from his phone upon checking it the notification was from the Pokemon Go app.He told his family that he didn’t feel the car hit him he simply awoke at the hospital with fractured skull and both his legs broken doctors say he might never walk again. His friend who wants to remain anonymous recorded the incident and immediately dialed 911.Charley Lewis says his life goal was to “catch them all” but with his inability to walk his dreams have been crushed he said “I felt like they set me up for disappointment” he is expected to live but he might never catch them all.His family has already started the suing the Pokemon Go company they feel that a 500 million dollar settlement will be enough to satisfy his disappointment. We have yet to hear from the Pokemon Go company.

pokemonGo accident

  1. 26 Year-Old Lamar Hickson is accused of causing one of the worst highway accidents after stopping in the middle of the highway to catch a Pikachu.Lamar Hickson admitted to police that he was playing the newly released Pokemon app game know as “Pokemon Go” while driving. He said “Sh*t if you wanna catch them all you gotta risk it all so I put my car in park and started tossing these balls”.Charges against Hickson are still unknown, nobody was seriously hurt but this raises concerns about future accidents. We spoke to one of the car accident victims and he also says he was also playing the game.We spoke the officers Fredrick Jones who says “Texting and driving was already a very serious issue, but now playing Pokemon Go and driving could make things worse.” He said this could double or triple the amount of incidents that happen due to driving while using a mobile device. The hashtag #dontpokemongoanddrive has since started trending on social media.

These four are the main rumor/articles going around that are fake works of fiction originating from the CartelPress website. CartelPress looks like a normal news site but its stories are actually manufactured stories. See if you scroll down to the bottom of the site you will see a link to their Term and Conditions. Once you click on it you are shown this at the top:

CartelPressTermsTop
So…..there you have it. I have done some research of the site and apparently Huzlers.com regularly publishes fake stories and that CartelPress may be just a mock-up for another site they plan to create which will allow its users to create their own stories and share them on social media. The guy behind the idea even tricked Facebook users into believing he had predicted many milestone events in 2016.

Other stories:

TOLEDO, Ohio — Police say two people in Ohio have been arrested while playing “Pokemon Go” after they climbed over a fence at the Toledo Zoo. The pair was arrested early Thursday after they were spotted on a zoo security camera. Police say the two went over a fence near the zoo’s tiger enclosure in search of the smart phone game’s cartoon monsters. Officers say the pair was walking through the zoo when they were caught. Both were charged with criminal trespass. Twenty-five-year old Robin Bartholomy and 26-year-old Adrian Crawford, both of Toledo, are due in court Friday. Court records do not list attorneys for them. A message seeking comment was left with Crawford. There was no telephone listing for Bartholomy. WTOL reports that Bartholomy posted on Facebook just days before her arrest: ‘I am not above breaking and entering for a Pokemon.”   *** True

Some are being led to some not-so-great places.
The whole point of Pokémon Go is that you have to go out in order to play the game. In theory, this is great. So many games we play on our phones keep us stationary, but Pokémon Go has us exploring the world. However, the game’s creators might want to rethink where they’re stashing the Pokémon: Users have reported being led to a strip club, cemeteries, private homes and even a Holocaust museum in pursuit of their prizes.

So with all that has been going on be careful when playing the game and limit where you go. Pokemon appear everywhere even across the street in a neighbor’s backyard that owns two big pit bulls………………………………..

Here goes another battle of Samsung verses Apple were so much seems to reside on how much a person likes the phone as opposed to whether or not the phone is actually better. The phone industry battle still mainly involves Samsung and Apple.SammyApple You do have other companies who throw there bombs in like LG and Huawei. Companies like Huawei and Blu have made a dent into this battle as far as sales go mainly because they have offering phones with some pretty good specs for less money and less money spent is always enticing. A good number of consumers do not want to spend a lot of money on a phone to then have to spend a lot monthly to keep that phone on. At the end of the day you buying that flagship phone is still better than buying the cheaper copies. Main reason is longevity and yes a new version comes out every year and yet I am still right. Why? I will give you an example. The Note 3 is years old now. We are about to see a Note 6 soon and the Note 3 is still a great phone. I have seen Note 3 phones with Note 5 software on them giving these phones new life for the owner that wants to wait to upgrade and let’s face it, it is not always beneficial to upgrade every year (i.e. Note 5 removal of the SDCard) but a worthwhile upgrade also depends on where you are coming from.
Now we have the Samsung Galaxy S7 vs. the Apple iPhone 6s. The first thing that comes to mind is the “s” in the iPhone 6s which to me just tells me that is but a minor change from the 6 at first glance but come to find out the 6s is just what the 6 should have been from the start (gotta know to read between the lines). So first let us start with what is different with the 6s vs the 6.

Screen: Same screen but with 3D Touch
Design: .2 mm thicker, 14g heavier, another color option of Rose Gold, and 7000 anodized aluminum as opposed to 6300. So the design is worse actually but for a worthwhile reason if anyone remembers the “bend-gate” scandal of the iPhone 6.

Performance: Apple A9 64bit dual core 1.84GHz (CPU), PowerVR GT7600 (GPU), 2GB RAM. What this means is the 6s has a newer CPU and GPU which is faster and the phone has more memory than 1GB (finally an iphone with more than 1GB) More memory translates into more you can do at once and more webpages opened. Oh also any review you read about the Apple CPU do not be impressed by how much more percent the CPU is faster cause all that matters is how that CPU can handle the Operating System period.

Camera: 4MP higher camera with all the same features while adding 4K video and 5MP front camera instead of the 1.2 the 6 had. Oh and they added a Live Photo feature.

Battery: It is a smaller battery than the 6 but supposedly the newer iOS in the 6s is more power efficient.

So now that you know the differences between the iPhone 6 vs the 6s (it is relevant…..trust me as I will go into more info on that later) let’s get into business. I am not going to go into a long review of these phones but instead show you a spec comparison and then explain it.

What does this all translates to?
Google-Translate-icon
Screen:
The Galaxy S7 screen is better by far with more pixels resulting in a much better look. Quite frankly nothing beats out a Samsung AMOLED display. The Iphone has 3D Touch an all which sounds cool if you use it. 3DTouch is a feature that allows the screen detect pressure which you can use to preview emails and websites. Let us not forget the Edge version of this cool display with its curve edge which adds more features to the phone.
OLED technology is the future where future phone can be flexible and foldable. These displays are lighter, thinner, faster in response time, have more vibrant colors, better viewing angles, high color accuracy, and like you see in the new line of Samsung phones an always-on display mode.
Performance:
The S7 is the winner here while both perform great with their respective operating systems. The S7 no matter which variant you get whether the Exnyos or Snapdragon (US versions) you are still getting more cores for your buck along with more memory. Double the amount of memory (think like your home PC or laptop) translates into faster performance and more multitasking. You can basically do more with 4GB and you can with 2GB. More open apps and more opened webpages. Now some will say the Apple is better here and I ask…. Based on what test? These 2 phones are very different while using different operating systems and frankly there is no true way to compare them performance-wise. If there was some way to test these phone on equal grounds while using the same OS then maybe as performance depends greatly on software. So when you see performance benchmarking reviews take them with a grain of salt cause what matters is if it runs good for what you use that phone for.
Software:
Which OS being better depends largely on what you like and want. Which one actually being better won’t matter to most if not all people. iOS and Android are both great but here we run into that age old battle of windows verses Mac OS, though not same per say but definitely is the same battle based on the same pros and cons. Apple’s closed management of iOS makes it better as far as upgrades are concerned as long as your device can run it which Apple also dictates. Android is more open by far with an app store that offers a lot more at the price of zero. Updates take longer and if you are a techy person you can do a lot more with your phone by installing customized versions of android on your phone by going to certain sites like xda-developers. This option is what can largely increase the life of your phone as I have mentioned latter in my reference to the Note 3. Not to mention those movie apps people find like Showbox or Moviebox.
Camera:
The camera is something you have to test out no matter what the specs are and a lot of reviews are stating the S7 camera is better. We use our phone to take selfies and capture those special moments which are usually in low light environments. Samsung has focused on this and the S7 has proven to be better in low light. I have seen a lot of mixed reviews, of course, but most of them praise the S7 on its low light performance. Even an Apple fan site, iMore, says the S7 won in their comparison of the cameras. Anyone reading this can look this up and you will find these camera shootouts going on, on websites. Other sites to check are Yahoo and CNET.
Battery:
The S7 has a bigger battery but at the same time needs it and still has not beaten Apple yet on battery life.
Overall I would have to say the S7 is better. I have chosen to not get into the design cause both phones are beautiful phones and no one can knock the Samsung phone for not having the metal, premium design. Samsung screens have been the best since the Epic 4G in 2010. Note that this was not the first phone to use OLED technology. Nokia has that win with the N85 but after that Samsung did make the i7110. Back then though these were not what you see today and they performed rather bad in direct sunlight. Anyways the S7 having more memory is a definite win here and to add the new Marshmallow Android OS along with a more robust processor but…..
The Apple iPhone 6s is already halfway through its lifecycle and there are rumors already on the iPhone 7. These rumor go as follows:
  • Removal of the headphone jack
  • Faster LTE modem made by Intel instead of Qualcomm
  • Wraparound screen using OLED technology (I doubt this very much. Maybe later down the road in like 2018 or something as Apple is always behind.)
  • Copying of some S7 specs like the dual-lens camera.
  • A new chassis that allows radio signals through it or just redesigning the antenna lines. (Hmmm great for signal increases but bad if you one of those people that are into the effects these signals can cause on people.)

So if you have an upgrade up and are looking to upgrade you probably should wait till around September/October time to see what this new iPhone 7 will be then decide what to upgrade to then. Oh will add that the Note 6 will also be a choice then too as I hear Samsung will be bringing back the SDCard. When it comes to the Note series of phones even if you do not use the S-Pen they are great phones and from what I hear the Note 6 may sport 6GB of memory, 4000mAh battery, and the same water and dust resistant features as the Galaxy S7. Yeah another feature the S7 has. Check out this video.

Here we are and the Galaxy Note 5 has not been out that long really and there have already been talks of the Samsung Galaxy S7. I am going to opt to giving you some real info here. Call it opinion, whatever you want but I am gonna say it anyways. The cellphone industry is heading in a direction that I do not totally like. It started with Apple suing everyone for stealing their own already stolen (okay bought) ideas. Somewhere in all that Samsung was accused of just copying Apple. So now at this day we have the Galaxy S6 and the newest Note 5 and all I can think of is: Are the accusations true? Samsung’s Note 5 is a beautiful phone, do not get me wrong, and I do like it very much so; but, they removed the sdcard and placed a nonremovable battery. Mind you these features are what made an iphone really kind of suck. I can add sub par hardware to that too when talking about the iphone. I do not care what you say about Apple’s internal hardware because how well that hardware really performs we can never really know due to vast differences in the software that they run.So since the Galaxy S4 Samsung’s flagship sales have falllen. The S4 did very well, the S5 did about 60% of  that, the S6… well would have probably done better if it were not for Samsung screwing up manufacturing and making too much of one version of the phone. Now we have the Note 5 which did not do as well as it was expected to. Now the Note 5 did sell twice as well as its counterpart, the S6 Edge Plus. Note the last word there….. “Plus”. Here we go with the Apple terms being stolen. You think Apple will try to sue Samsung for using Plus in the name as  part of any argument?  So Samsung has some work to do as far as I am concerned (others do feel the same way) or they will lose more footing in the game to Apple. Apple already has low options to choose so losing to Apple just makes the smartphone world rather boring. The world would be like a utopia of sorts with everyone using the same phone and wearing the same clothes , most likely white, and talking the same way while anyone else would be considered outlaws (I know I am exxagerating a bit.).  So onto to the Samsung Galaxy S7. What do we have so far to look forward to? Keep in mind these are only rumors, some will be on point while others you can take as a grain of salt.

Samsung Exynos 8890

There are rumors around that say there will be a Samsung phone with a new CPU (processor) that will be faster and better. Pretty much the same claims as always but this processor already has a name, the Exynos 8890 chipset. I know I said CPU and then named a chipset but Samsung has pretty much coined it by the whole package you are getting. This processor is being made using the company’s 14nm FinFet processor and features custom 64-bit Exynos M1 CPU cores. The rumors also say that Samsung may be able to release the S7 ahead of its usual cycle.  Also as to who will be able to acquire this phone which will not be everyone. Supposedly half of the phones made will be made with this new chipset while the other half will feature, yeah you may have guess it, a Snapdragon 820 chipset. The Exynos chipset is said to possibly mean a faster and more stable experience. Given the said specs, it could make the S7 Samsung’s most integrated smartphone as of yet, minus google Android of course.

Camera

The talk on the camera has been all over the place really and no one really knows what’s up. At one time it was said that Samsung was talking to Sony about acquiring the camera module it used in the Xperia Z5. The Xperia Z5 has a a 23MP camera with Hybrid Autofocus which is said to be able to focus really fast. You will have to click on the link to see more about that if you want. Another rumor report said that there will be a 12MP rear camera but with a larger half inch sensor. The idea is that when coupled with the larger pixel size it  would allow better performance. Oh also some new Samsung application supports this rumor. Most recently though the rumors say that the camera will be a 20MP camera that can shoot in RAW format. Also having the Pro mode to the camera and more advanced options for video recording also. There have been no confirmation on this though so… wait for Feb 2016 when the S7 is expected to unveil.

Firmware

Next there are insider rumors that Samsung has started development of the firmware for the S7.  Since these rumor are stating a time that was a month earlier than normal it is being assumed this is a sign of an earlier release date. Report also say there will be again two versions of the S7 with one being flat while the other curved. So development on G930FXXU0AOK6 and G935FXXU0AOK6 has begun this month so may be the early release date is valid.

Aside from all of this and with the Galaxy S7 only a few months away rumor suggest Samsung is already producing some of the hardware for this phone. Korean news claims manufacturing had kicked off for the processor and it is assumed Samsung will continue with a metal design but rumor say it will be a tougher metal. I will believe it when I see it…

Updates:

Price

Yeah price is probably important right? Well lately we have seen an increase in pricing for all of the flagship phones out and that has only pushed consumers away from buying the coolest phones. As I have mentioned latter, Samsung has seen a decline in sales for their biggest phones especially having to compete with Apple and companies like Huawei and Xiaomi who offer phones at a lower price that do have some pretty cool specs. So I read that Pan Jiutang, an analyst from China, has stated that the S7 price will be about 10% less than the S6’s price. If this is the case we may see Samsung back on track in sales soon. If this is the case I assume Samsung will do well in India then due to the iPhone 6S Plus’s price being too expensive for most customers there.

What is this thing gonna look like?

Next question…..What is this thing gonna look like? I really do not know. I have seen alot of images…supposed images and videos from possibly correct to totally idiotic. So I will post this video for you to watch here as possiblly correct since I have seen these image floating around quite often. I will also post a few images that I have seen more recent than this video. Checkem out.

Final Update:

As for all of the rumors looks like they were on point minus a few small differences that you will never even notice just the Galaxy S7 is a gorgeous phone. The S7 line comes in the S7 and the S7 Edge which this time around Samsung made larger with a larger battery to distinguish more the 2 phones. I personally think this is cool cause now you can actually justify paying more the the S7 Edge. After reading all of the rumors in this post I will just add a video so you can just relax and watch. Who wants to read alot of the same stuff anyways right?

Today smartphones come in larger sizes and you can go out and buy a tablet which will have larger size screens but at times there are trade-offs depending on which tablet you buy.  There are also the large following of people who have discovered the Android Emulator. I feel as if I have to back up a little bit to explain what this is and it starts with the word emulator. In this context an emulator is hardware or software that enables one computer system (the host) to behave like another computer system (the guest). Emulators are typically used for running software and games from another system. To make it more clear I can play Playstation games on my computer by installing an emulator. Next step in this definition is an AVD (Android Virtual Device) which by definition is an emulator configuration that lets you model an actual device by defining hardware and software options to be emulated by the Android Emulator. So AVD is a set of settings (basically). In the Android world we have many different Android phones that run several different versions of Android as well as several different graphical overlays (all those icons that you tap on); and, different hardware. So it is possible to create an emulator that can behave just like the phone you bought, whichever phone you have.

I hope that was clear for you and I will be discussing mostly about an Android emulator called Bluestacks who have come a long way since its start in 2011, which was known for being one of the first ways to run Android apps on your Windows computer.  Bluestacks is on version 2 now, the latest version of its platform with one big upgrade: the ability to run more than one Android app at the same time. This sounds really cool to me and I will have to put it more through its paces but I can see it adds a tab interface for jumping between several Android apps. It looks a lot like a web browser and Bluestacks 2 can also play mobile ads in separate tabs on click, which is a better idea to keep the ads from interrupting your game. Bluestacks company-wise says it’s reached more than 109 million downloads, with users running more than 1.1 billion Android apps every month. Bluestacks now has the 7th largest Android user base in the world, which is more than Xiaomi and Sony. (According to data from the research firm Gartner.)

Are you a PC gamer interested in playing mobile games? Are you a mobile gamer with the need for a larger screen? Android emulators  may just be the thing for you. I will also add there is another big Android emulator that also works well. It is called Andyroid, which tends to be more for the overall Android user that may not need the functionality for gaming per say. You do have to try both out to see which one you like better or which works better for you because from my experience they do come at times with issues. Both companies though give you ways to ask questions in getting those issues worked out. Oh before I go I will add in that some game creators are adding in security software into their games that block these emulators due to some using them to hack those games with the intention of getting harder to acquire items and content. (Someone always has to mess things up for everyone right?)

Microsoft’s first major Windows 10 update debuted yesterday with some new features and changes. Most of the additions are obvious, but there are a few hidden away. Here are several Windows 10 features you might not have discovered yet.

Find my device

You’re probably used to using a find my device feature on your phone, but what happens if you lose your laptop? In most versions of Windows you’d have to settle for a third-party app to trust and track your laptop’s location, but Microsoft has decided to add this functionality straight into Windows 10. Just like the mobile equivalent, you can enable find my device and it will track the last known location of your laptop or PC.

It’s linked to your Microsoft Account so you can sign-in on the web from another device if you lose your laptop or it gets stolen. You can find the setting to enable it in settings > update & security > find my device.

Cortana will let you reply to texts and more

If you have a Windows Phone then Cortana gets a lot more useful with the latest Windows 10 update. A new option in Cortana’s settings section lets you enable missed call notifications. That’s useful if you simply miss a call, but it also lets you reply to calls with text messages. Cortana will use your phone and its number to send the text, and you can even say “text Joe Bloggs” to initiate a text message without having to miss a call.

Sadly this isn’t available yet in the new Messaging app, so you need to use Cortana at the moment to send text messages. If you have a device with a stylus then Cortana will also let you create reminders based on times, dates, and locations that you scribble into digital notes. If you’re an Uber user then you can even link your account so Cortana will offer driving directions for events alongside an option to request an Uber ride.

Automatic time zones

Windows has had the ability to set automatic time for years, but if you travel to another country it never changed time zones automatically. That’s changing with the latest Windows 10 update. Hidden away in settings > time & language is a new “set time zone automatically” option. It’s enabled by default if you install the latest update, and it does exactly what it says. Now if you’re travelling for vacation or work, you won’t get to your destination and be puzzled by your old time zone. It will finally work just like your smartphone does.

Cast media to device

Microsoft already supports DLNA and Miracast streaming inside Windows 10, but the latest update makes it a lot more discoverable. If you’re using Microsoft Edge then there’s a new option to “cast media to device” and elsewhere there’s a little cast icon in apps like photos or videos. The cast media feature lets you send photos, video, and audio to compatible devices with no setup required. It’s a lot like Google’s Chromecast feature now.

Microsoft Edge sync passwords and favorites

It’s surprising that password, favorites, and reading list sync wasn’t enabled for the Microsoft Edge browser in Windows 10, but that’s changing with the new update. If you use multiple Windows 10 devices then you can enable the sync option in Edge settings so the browser finally syncs passwords and favorites across all the laptops and PCs you use.

New Skype apps

Microsoft is including Skype integration with its latest Windows 10 update, but you might not even notice it at first. If you install the latest update then apps like Messaging, Phone, and Skype Video will also be installed. You can find them using Cortana or the app list, and they’re basic versions of Skype features. They’re useful if you want a lightweight messaging app to talk to Skype friends, but they still need some improvements.

Screenshot__22_.0

Better app snapping

Windows 8 introduced some useful “Metro” app snapping features, and now Windows 10 is extending them to all apps. When you place two desktop apps side-by-side, like File Explorer and Notepad, you can now resize them individually and the other window will adjust to fill the gap. It’s a lot more like how Metro-style apps worked in Windows 8, and it’s great if you want to have apps side-by-side but have one act like it’s a sidebar. Just hover your mouse in the middle of two snapped apps and you’ll see a new slider will appear to let you adjust accordingly.

Samsung’s Phablet line of phones just keeps on pushing the edge going from strong contenders to even stronger. Despite the Note 5 not having a few features (and Samsung taking too many cues from Apple. Just saying.) it still has that large screen and plenty of features to take advantage of it.  The Note 5 is a nice looking phone. I had to check it  out and found it at an AT&T store before launch and I did love the way it looked. It is hands down one of the best looking and will cost you a pretty (ugly) penny too. The Note 5’s aesthetics though come with a price of there own. It is a bit fragile and I had to be extra careful to keep the phone from slipping out of my hand. Don’t get me wrong it is not too bad but coming from a different phone (Also a Note series phone) I felt I had to grip it tighter even though it had a lower footprint in my hand then my current phone at the time. So you will need protection for what  is still a beast of a phone. The cases listed here are in no order or importance or whichever is better so here goes…

Ringke Fusion Crystal Case

Ringke Fusion Note 5

I just happen to like this case and I keep seeing it mentioned in forums by people. The case is a hard slim case that shows off the Note 5 by also being transparent. The case is scratch resistant but nothing big is really talked about this part. You will see some stuff on the case eventually over time. There are TPU plugs that protects the ports from debris and this thing comes with a screen protector. Two for one baby…

Spigen Slim Armor Case

Spigen Slim Armor Note 5

I have this case for my Galaxy Note 4 and this case is just fine for me and it looks good. I bought it in a blue color and Spigen has continued onto the Note 5. The case has a kickstand and two layers. One layer being a rubber-type layer which is great for protection. Its TPU core helps to increase grip around the edges. The shell is smooth (polycarbonate) looks great while is a bit slippery though but still feels good in the hand. The buttons sit flush with the case which does take some getting used to. I noticed it takes a lil bit more strength to press the buttons too. (That is how the case is on my Note 4) Oh I will add in that the kickstand you should take care when using it. The kickstand is more stable while the phone is in the case so if you decide to try to pull it out while the phone is not in the case and find it either hard to do or whatever you notice….its better with the phone inside. I used the kickstand from time to time but I make sure I am careful with it. The Slim Armor Case for the Note 5 comes in gunmetal, metal slate, violet, and gold.

Spigen Slim Armor in Violet

Now the case was hard to find in this color. I could only find it on Spigen’s UK site. The case is available on other sites. You may just have to go looking for it. In the meantime I have included some sites. (Updated as of 3/5/2018)

OBLIQ Slim Fit Hard Case

The OBLIQ Case is another option if you do not want fatten that Note 5 too much. This case (also polycarbonate) snaps on your phone allowing easier access to the ports, side buttons, and whatever else. The case has an airbrushed finish, looks great, and is easy to grip.

Obliq Bumper Case-Note 5

SUPCASE Heavy Duty Case and Holster

Supcase HD Combo Note 5

This next case is one we all have seen some version of on different phones. Kind of remeniscent of an Otterbox but without the Otterbox price tag. So if you want that level of protection for your phone but do not wanna spend alot this case is an option. The Supcase has a built-in screen protector for that guard against scratches and the polycarbonate shell. TPU increases its grip while handling impact quite well. It has that rugged Hummer style to it and it has a few colors even for that rugged ride-or-die female.

Caseology Wavelength Series

Caseology Wavelength Case Note 5

The next case, the Caseology Wavelength at first glance I would say it must have some grip. This is a nice case also which adds a bit more to the look of your device while at the same time offering protection. Okay this case does have a polycarbonate frame and the matching TPU that covers most of the phone which also supplies the grip. The buttons are raised and the camera/ports are open. The colors it comes in are navy blue, mint, pink, and black.

Pelican ProGear Voyager Case

Pelican Pink Voyager Case & Holster Note5

This Pelican case made its way in recently for a case that is military grade. Like alot of cases it is built from a shock-absorbing layer with a polycarbonate shell but… with extra rubber on the outside where you will need it most. This case comes with a screen protector and the space from the edge to the screen is rather spacey for what I am used to. The usual button covers and cut-outs for all the ports and stuff along with a holster that can be used as a kickstand. This case though seems harder to find. I found a pink one floating around and the black one I think is an AT&T exclusive offering. So you will have to hit up the AT&T site to find that one.

Honorable Mention for Outdoors

I added this in because I did wonder what was around for say policeman or security guards. Most cases aren’t really great for running with and when I run with my phone I find myself having to hold the phone in order to keep it from jumping out of my pocket. (Cargo pockets are out cause as you run the phone will literally start banging on your knee. Unless you wear tight pants………………)

OneTigris MOLLE Tactical Smartphone Pouch for iPhone6 iPhone6 Plus and Galaxy Note 4, Blackberry 8300, HTC One Max

This pouch is designed to hold a smartphone with a larger screen. The ONETIGRIS site says it fits the iPhone 6 Plus perfectly. The site also says that with an Otterbox Defender case the phone would fit so tightly. The iphone 6 plus is very much the same size so grab you a slim case with a screen protector and rock this pouch to keep you phone around while on duty. The pouch is made of rugged 1000D nylon with a padding interior and strengthen buckle. The pouch allows for attaching to the MOLLE-compatible backpacks and vests that ONETIGRIS makes. Horizontal and verticalically worn on a belt and can be installed into webbing.

I have setup a list of the best Android games to help you get through the Play Store’s many titles. So read on as I explore the different game genres in an attempt to find all the best titles to install on your phone or tablet this year.

Action Games

Gameloft makes a lot of games for Android and they know how to do it well.  Gameloft is a video game developer and publisher headquartered in Paris, France. The company also has subsidiaries in 28 countries around the world. They have created a number of games for mobile phone handsets, tablets, games consoles and other platforms.

Founded in 1999 by Michael Guillemot, one of the co-founders and owners of video game publisher and developer Ubisoft, Gameloft has expanded to employ a staff of 5,000 at the end of 2011. Gameloft began to be profitable in 2003. Gameloft’s consolidated revenues were €10.2m (2003), €23.2m (2004) and €46.8m (2005). Gameloft has posted consolidated revenues of €68m in 2006, €96m in 2007, €110m in 2008 and €122m in 2009. In 2010, Gameloft consolidated sales reached €141m and went up to €164m in 2011. In 2012 the revenues continued to grow and crossed the €200m-mark, reaching €208.3m in 2012 and €233.3m in 2013. According to the preliminary data, the revenue for the end of year of 2014 were €227m. Through agreements with major telephone carriers, handset manufacturers, specialized distributors and its online shop, Gameloft states it has a distribution network in over 100 countries. As of 2013, Gameloft had development centers in 20 countries. (Wikipedia.org)

Gameloft, having made games like Asphalt 8, Modern Combat 5 and N.O.V.A. 3 you can pretty much be sure you are playing a game with high-production value and a free-to-play price structure. Brother in Arms 3 is a great game. People are saying it may be Gameloft’s best action game so far. I don’t know about that but the game is cool. The game is a 3rd person shooter game where you guide your character through a World War 2 area as you do the normal weapon and ability upgrades as you play. The graphics are great and the game is not for every Android phone that you run into. If you have any flagship phone or tablet you should be okay to play it. Fun to play and you get into it until boom a purchase is needed but that is how it goes now with most games right?

The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead is actually a cool game. The play style reminds me of the old school Dungeons and Dragons decision-based style game. Does anyone remember the movie BIG with Tom Hanks? The game Josh was playing. Just click on the next two links to see.

Link 1 Link 2

I even found a site where someone recreated the game. Click Here to see How cool is that? Anyways, The Walking Dead: Season One and The Walking Dead: Season Two is an interesting game to play that keeps you into the game through a strong storyline. As you move through the story you do get a bit of a thrill and maybe a scare as your decision can mean death to a character or your character. Oh yeah there are zombies. Telltale Games has several games so when you are done with The Walking Dead you can try the other games they have. If you happen to be a fan of Game of Thrones they have a game based on that too. Definitely try Telltale Games out.

The World Ends With You-android

The World Ends With You Game for Android

The World Ends With You is a game that I do remember actually from the world of Nintendo, well, the Nintendo DS actually. I had to look up how long ago this was and the game is dated around 2007. So now about 8 years later here it is. If you are a gamer then you know about Square Enix, the maker of this game. You most likely know Square Enix for Final Fantasy.

The World Ends With You is a side scrolling action game that has several game elements to it from RPG to card style gaming. The Manga style graphics now on Android is still a good game that can hold its own even after 8 years, but the game has a price that is a bit steep. One of the higher price ($17.99) Android games I have seen actually which will turn most people off.

Fighting Games

Keep checking as I look into the coolest fighting game.

Microsoft has been busy lately making my last update referring to Windows 9 an old memory for the most part. You can read on it here. I say read it because a good portion of the information is valid actually you will be able to see a progression here going on with Microsofts next operating system which will now be Windows 10, totally skipping 9. Why would they skip 9 and go Windows 10? A question everyone is asking. Well let’s try and figure that out.

I do need to point out that between Windows 3 and Windows 7, versions of Windows were designated by a name rather than a number: 95, 98, NT, Me, 2000, Vista, and so on. When Microsoft announced Windows 7, there was also some disbelief and after a series of named versions of Windows it would be odd to jump back to numbers. The name of each Windows release doesn’t really match the real version number; for example, Windows 8.1 is actually version 6.3 of Windows. Windows 10 is version 6.4. The last time the release name actually matched the version number was Windows NT 4.0, which was released back in 1996. (Wow does anyone remember Windows NT? Makes me a bit nostalgic. I may just pop that disk in and install it somewhere just to get that urge out.) Windows 2000 (Called NT 5.0 during development) was actually version 5.0. Windows XP was version 5.1. Windows Vista was 6.0, Windows 7 was 6.1, Windows 8 was 6.2, and Windows 8.1 is version 6.3. WinRT, which powers Metro, is a new and separate beast, it is not a full Windows animal but it still sits on top of the core Windows kernel. Whatever right? You might as well just go with and iPad running iOS if WinRT is something you like. Modern versions of Windows are still based on the Vista (including Windows 10) which is actually Windows 6.4 and as times goes by there will most likely be more confusion.

I hear that the number 9 is considered unlucky in Japan. Microsoft having enough stigmas on its plate to get away from may have just simple skipped 9 to avoid any ill will. Funny thing is I remember an Antivirus software maker doing that (Trend Micro) and I always wondered why but never cared enough to really want to find out. Looking into it now I see Trend Micro is a Japanese company, go figure.

So again I ask the question and the response I find is from Tony Prophet (Microsoft corporate vice president, Windows Marketing) which is that “It came and it went.” I had to literally watch clips on youtube of the conference to even see it. Going through different clips I found his answer. I think he was quoting Satya Nadella (Microsoft CEO). The idea seems to be to distance Windows 10 from Windows 8 while Windows 10 not being some ,”incremental step from Windows 8.1.” Microsoft has had the the goal to make one thing for all devices and that goal continues further with Windows 10. Microsoft is handling things with Windows 10 different also. At this moment anyone can try out the Windows 10 Technical Preview which is updated pretty often. Windows 8 having a bad name Microsoft is definitely working for a change. I know Windows 8 sort of skip Enterprise customers and most if not all companies are just upgrading their PCs and running Windows 7. Prophet says Windows 10 will be different.

So what is new?…. Microsoft actually committed to a Summer 2015 date to release Windows 10. Microsoft is planning to launch Windows 10 in 190 countries and it will be available in 111 languages. Cool stuff that only gets better. Anyone tired of Window 7? or even XP? (Goodness no one should still have XP now.) Well Microsoft will be offering Windows 10 as a free upgrade for anyone running Windows 7 or Windows 8 which leaves out about 21% of all desktop users still using XP and/or Vista.

Microsoft is also partnering with different companies to help facilitate the upgrade to Windows 10 in China. In China pirating is big and it is said that about 75% of users in China are running some pirated version of Windows and Microsoft is giving Windows 10 away to anyone running pirated windows also. This will go on for 1 year. I microsoft will get a lot of coverage with this going on.

I thought about explaining Windows 10 and I will talk about a few things but I prefer to just show you. Here are some images of Windows 10.

I also have a video for you to give you a better idea of what Microsoft has so far.

Updates and Links:

Windows 10 will not support Media Center.

Checking out my twitter I see a tweet from old Gabe:

So those of you who decide to upgrade will lose Media Center functionality altogether. Gabriel Aul’s Twitter post will catch the attention of the die hard Media Center fans. He did mention,”If you have WMC now, we’ll have a DVD option for you in an update later this year,” which to most just means you will be able to play your DVD movies still but this does not say anything about those that use WMC to watch TV. What about the home theatre PCs that use the convenient funtionality of Windows Media Center?

Project Spartan Browser

Microsoft is working on a new browser for Windows 10. Looks like they are considering to get rid of Internet Explorer. I do believe Microsoft will keep Internet Explorer though for corporate use. Compatibility issues will arise and businesses are not keen up updating to the newest Microsoft anything as soon as it comes out.

Windows 10 Available on the Rasberry Pi 2 Micro Computer & the Intel Minnowboard Max

Project Spartan Browser now has a name……The Edge Browser

Again I say, farewell Internet Explorer and make way for Microsoft’s next browser, Edge. Edge will be the default browser for Windows 10 and will not run on older versions of Windows. (For now. I’m sure someone cool person will find a way around this. Although virtual windows could be an option.) The browser will be better though…..eventually. I can think of about 5 ways it will be better.

  1. Edge does have more optimized code base then IE. Microsoft stripped away all the code no longer needed to support backward compatibility and as a result is zippier. According to Microsft, the current build of Edge ran twice as fast as IE 11 in recent tests using the Google Canary benchmarking software. It also handily beat the latest beta 64-bit builds of the Chrome and Firefox browsers in this test supposedly. So far Edge has over 4,200 interoperability improvements over IE11. Built on Microsoft’s Universal Windows Platform, the browser renders pages more uniformly across different devices, and brings it more in line with other browsers in this respect. An improvement since IE on Windows Phone struggles to render pages properly.
  2. Edge will support JavaScript-based extensions, allowing third parties to customize views of Web pages and add new functionality. Edge extensions must be written using the Web languages of HTML and JavaScript. Extension support won’t come with the initial release of the Edge, but will be available by the end of the year.
  3. Since the beginning, IE carries a lot of baggage for backward compatibility. IE 11 comes with a variety of legacy modes, mostly to support enterprises who built internal applications around IE6 or some other older version. Microsoft needed to make a clean break, especially given how quickly Mozilla, Google and Apple were updating their own browsers. Hmmm, Edge will not support Microsoft’s ActiveX, Browsers Helper Objects (BHOS), VBScript and third-party toolbars built for IE11, all of which are a pain in the butt for a tech like me. Everyone is always installing toolbars like those by Mindspark. All of these things slow down performance and add security issues. Edge will support Adobe Flash and Personal Document Format (PDF) and for those people who still require IE, Microsoft will maintain the browser for at least as long as it supports Windows 10, providing security fixes but no longer actively developing the browser.
  4. Edge is connected into Microsoft’s Bing search service and with Cortana, the company’s virtual personal assistant service. When you opt into these services, they can keep track of your actions on the browser in order to gather more context that would, in theory, help you in your travels across the Web. As you type a question in the URL address bar, Edge starts generating possible answers. Typing in the “msft” stock ticker will instantly return the current stock market price and company information. If you visit a Web page for a restaurant, the browser prepares a summary of information that might be of interest, like hours, directions, and a link to the menu. Edge can return movie show times and flight arrival times. I noticed launching the browser will give you a new tab start page with links to your most visited sites, as well as links to news stories and content that I guess it thought I may find interesting. I think it was just and estimation base on my browsing habits.
  5. Edge improves the user’s reading experience. The browser frame is less decorated with distracting menu commands and widgets. It will offer a “reading view,” which strips away all the menus, ads and other distracting elements that run alongside the text. Through a button click, Edge will also offer the ability to annotate Web pages. (I show that in the video) A user can make notes directly on a website, which can then be recalled the next time the site is visited. The browser will store the notes on the user’s computer and those with touch devices can also draw on top of the site. Annotations can be shared with other Edge users.

Windows 10 Release Date

Expected launched date is in July 2015

While searching for games I ran across a game that caught my attention. I was skeptical at first due to the numerous games that lead on to being cool but just turned out to be the average card/summoner games.  I noticed the game was free which always looks good and so I went and found a youtube video of it so I can get an idea. Well the game has my attention.  The first thing that comes to mind when viewing the game is the Marvel vs. Capcom type of game. I also notice the graphics of the game are rather pleasing…especially for an Android game. I began to think,”Oh can my phone handle this game.” ………………………………..I pulled my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 out (What can this phone actually not handle…lol) and installed this game.

Contest of Champions Comic book

Contest of Champions Comic book

First thing I noticed is how long it took  the phone to open the game. I though that was weird but then again lately the internet has not been up to its normal quality so I ignored this. As I started to play I started to remember something. See the storyline of the game is something I have seen before in the comics and cartoons.

[ntcyoutube id=”Oddu2Zsjxe4″]

The heroes are controlled somehow and force to fight in a contest tournament. I forget the details but nothing you can’t just google to find out more about. As for the game… The game is fun to play while not having complex controls. Some would say that takes away from the game especially since Marvel vs. Capcom is available for mobile phones. There is also Injustice too which I will get into playing also. Differences between Injustice and Contest of Champions is mainly that more work was put into Injustice. Now this is just something I read which just makes me wanna play it. Trust me I will play it and once I do I will post a video but for now here is a lil look at the game.

So try out Contest of Champions and feel free to post a comment on what you think. Get it on Google Play.

Finally Apple has come out with a phone to compete with the market and I must say it is a nice looking phone but that is nothing new when it comes to Apple products. Apple is now doing things different (for them anyways) and has made a larger iphone. In fact, they made 2 larger iphones. Now if you want some specs on the phones just check out a previous post, APPLE’S SPENDING HAS INCREASED… IPHONE 6 LAUNCH COMING?, on Ninja Tech forums where I talk about the rumors of the phone that were out before launch.I’m just going to get straight to the point here. I have seen the phones and I do like them. While holding the phone it feels metal and sturdy, yet a bit slippery. The phones are thinner and do feel better in your hands. I looked closely at each one and they look to be well designed and they have the curved ends that iphone fans should not find as a new thing. The design actually reminds me of the original iphones starting from the 1st generation to the iphone 3GS but only thinner. Let’s not forget that these also had the rounded curves. It wasn’t until the iphone 4 that the blocky design was used.

I like the metal Apple logo on the back yet it is a definite fingerprint magnet. As I picked up the phone on the display I saw the previous customer’s fingerprint and looking at it I thought, “Man his hands must be dirty.” Mind you I saw the person and he looked clean, I guess, but whatever residue he had on his hands were easily seen on the logo. The iphone 6 was really light and felt good I must say but I myself not being so easily impressed looked closer at the phone and I saw the screen curving at the edges. I tested this by swiping my finger across the edge and yep.  My first reaction was good but then I started to think then asked myself, “What would happen if I dropped the phone one day?” and from what I know the result did not seem good to me.  Now I have dropped my Note 3 and the metal bezel caught a ding while the glass and everything is fine but the same kind of fall my Note 3 took, if it were to occur on the iphone… The impact would affect the screen more given the curved design of the phone.  As I looked away at the phone I began to hear T-mobile reps pushing customers to get the insurance. Even stating that the wait for the phone will be shorter for those that get the insurance. I wonder why that it. So I look around the web for drop tests and find that the iphone in most of those tests have not held up.  Here are a few you can check out:

This test by Android Authority is thought of as very skeptical by most viewers since most of the test done by other users have different results but if you want durability who are you gonna believe? the minority or the majority?

I have decided to also include the bent tests for the Note 3 and the iphone 6 plus.

As you can see the screen cracked on a flat out on the screen fall. I have don’t this on my Note 3 and the noise it made did not sound good at all but the phone is still fine and kicking. Shoot some may never even be able to tell that I dropped it. The iPhone 6 drops tests concern me and anyone going out to purchase one make sure you buy the insurance. Now get this, I heard a story of a person who dropped his iPhone 6 (already?) Watch the video and remember this is on  the first day. This guy I think may be the first customer to have it.

Dude?… can you imagine just buying the phone after camping out to get it and you drop it? I hope Apple sees the video and helps him out just because I can feel that just watching  the video and it  does not feel good. (My empathy at play here.) Well, moving along I learn what is on the inside of  the phone and I personally am not impressed. The specs are fine for most but they remind me of the commercials of the Note 4 that I have seen and the question that comes to mind is “Didn’t an earlier Google Nexus phone have similar specs as this?” Seriously, a dual-core processor? Okay it is a 64-bit processor with a coprocessor (M8) to handle the phone’s motion capabilities while rocking 1GB of DDR3 RAM. Oh and the graphics chip is quad-core, a detail which saves the phone in my book.  This graphics chip should serve the phone well for gamers. I’m going to move on to some pros and cons to help you decide.

Apple iPhone 6

Pros

  • New Sleek design
  • Confortable to hold
  • Fast performance
  • Great display
  • Good camera (generally)

Cons

  • Lacks Optical Image Stabilization
  • Battery Life is okay
  • NFC can only be used for mobile payments

The iPhone 6 with the larger screen is still confortable to hold. My initial testing shows it to be fast and the display was okay to me. Although Samsung’s AMOLED screens are still better from what I can see. The iPhone screens just didn’t seem as bright to me. (A little screen brightness adjusting may fix that though.) This iphone does not have the same battery which translates to shorter battery life as the iPhone 6 Plus. This detail has been mentioned in other reviews throughout the web also just in case you want more proof. The Optical Image Stabilization is also not present but the phone is a good choice for most people.

Apple iPhone 6 Plus

Pros

  • Long Battery Life
  • Great camera with Optical Image Stabilization
  • Fast performance
  • Large great display

Cons

  • One-handed use is  not for everyone and can be uncomfortable
  • NFC can only be used for mobile payments

The iPhone 6 Plus some would say is difficult to use one-handed but that really depends on what you are used to and how big your hands are. Although I have heard it mentioned that the phone is more uncomfortable than similar phones of its size. Now I like my Note 3 and its shape at times has help me catch it before it fell due to the more square look and the metalic bezel. I literally had the phone at my finger tips at times but you cannot beat having enough screen real estate for the playing of games, movies, and web surfing. So with the larger size you do get an iPad-like experience on a small device. The phone is said also in all areas that it does have better battery life then the smaller iPhone 6. The camera is also better which can the a deciding factor for some.

Overall both phones are great phones and at different sizes, Apple will be able to cut into the ‘phablet’ market that Samsung has started with the Note series. The iphone 6 looks great but inside the hood is just mid to mid-high components. Again Apple has cut a few corners by doing what it does best, take lower end hardware and create a cult of fans by captivating the senses with great looks. Smartphones in general are said to be more and have more features than what a lot people will ever use. There is also website all over the web talk about Apple fans being people who think different and are more artistic. If that is the case then why are they settling for the mere great looks of an iPhone and not buying a Samsung Note device? The answer for most is simply to be cool. Oooooh I have an iPhone and I will defend it to the end with false Pros and true Cons, despite of the fact which prove otherwise. Then again having a lot of features just isn’t a concern and just want a cool smartphone with simplicity.  In that I do agree but with any device there are quirks. The iPhone just isn’t for me due to having been spoiled by the Galaxy Note’s S-Pen but to anyone who hasn’t been spoiled like me I would recommend the iPhone most definitely as a 2 year phone. What I mean is, sure get the phone, but when upgrade time comes get a different phone so you can actuallly feel like you upgraded because the iphone experience has not really changed that much over the years. The idea of improving the integration and interactivity of iphones with other Apples would be the only change you will find. So if I was an iPhone 5 user that actually put my phone to use by using as many features as I can find a use for then upgrade to the iPhone 6 Plus. If most of what you do is talk then there is no large reason (a cracked screen would be  good reason) to upgrade from any iPhone 4 or 5 other than to simply have the newest (and greatest……supposedly) phone.  So you cannot go wrong with the iPhone really just make sure you get nsurance on it and protect the phone with a case and screen cover.
